GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE OPTIMIZATION

Google Business Profile Optimization for Home Service Businesses

Your Google Business Profile is the first thing a customer sees before they ever visit your website. If it's half-filled out or hasn't been touched since you claimed it, you're losing calls to whoever's profile looks more finished. We build it out properly and keep it active every month.

WHO WE BUILD THIS FOR

For Businesses That Live or Die by the Map Pack

If you're a plumber, HVAC company, electrician, landscaper, tree service, or pest control company, most of your calls start with someone searching for your trade near them and clicking one of the three names Google shows first. A thin or outdated Google Business Profile is the single most common reason a good business doesn't show up there.

This page covers what actually goes into optimizing that profile, not a generic checklist, the real work.

WHAT ACTUALLY GETS OPTIMIZED

Every Piece of Your Profile, Built Out Properly.

Category Strategy

Your primary category carries more ranking weight than almost anything else on your profile. We pick the right primary category and fill out every secondary category Google offers for your trade, not just the default one you picked when you first claimed the listing.

Photos and Media

Real photos of your work, your team, and your trucks, plus a logo and cover image that actually represent your business. Profiles with real, current photos get more clicks than ones with a stock logo and nothing else.

Weekly Google Posts

Regular posts keep your profile active in Google's eyes and give customers a reason to click through. We write and publish these every week, not once and forgotten.

Review Monitoring and Response

We track new reviews as they come in and respond within 7 days, every time. A profile that responds to reviews signals to Google, and to the customer reading them, that someone is actually running the business.

Description and Services List

Your business description and services list get rewritten around the way real customers search for your trade, not generic marketing copy. This is where a lot of the ranking signal actually lives.

Performance Tracking

Calls, direction requests, and website clicks coming straight from your profile, tracked and reported every month so you can see whether the work is producing calls, not just a completed checklist.

HOW THIS FITS IN

One Piece of a Bigger Ranking Picture

GBP optimization on its own is one piece of the picture. Local SEO combines it with citation building, service area pages, core service pages, link building, and monthly reporting, six pieces working together, not three. That's what actually moves a profile from buried on page two to one of the three names Google shows first. The geogrid rank maps and Map Pack screenshots on our Results page come from all six pieces working together, not GBP changes in isolation.

HOW GBP OPTIMIZATION WORKS AT ASJ

Audit. Build Out. Keep It Active.

Step 1

Audit

We start with a free audit of your current profile: categories, photos, description, reviews, and posting history, so you see exactly what's missing before you commit to anything.

Step 2

Build Out

We rebuild the categories, description, services list, and photos properly, the full setup most profiles never got in the first place.

Step 3

Keep It Active

Weekly posts, review responses within 7 days, and ongoing category and description adjustments as Google's options change. This isn't a one-time fix, it's managed every month for as long as you're a Local SEO client.

HOW THIS IS PRICED

Part of Local SEO. Not Sold on Its Own.

Google Business Profile Optimization isn't a standalone product, it's the first and most important piece of ASJ's Local SEO service, starting at $799 a month for most small home service businesses. That same $799 also covers citation building, service area pages, core service pages, link building, and a monthly report, everything on the Local SEO page.

If all you need is your profile fixed and nothing else, say so during your free audit and we'll tell you honestly whether that's enough for your situation or whether the rest of Local SEO is actually doing the heavier lifting for your rankings.

Your Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About GBP Optimization

Answers to the questions home service business owners ask most before handing over their Google Business Profile.

Will I lose ownership of my Google Business Profile if I hire you to optimize it?

No. You stay the owner. We ask to be added as a manager on your existing profile, which gives us the access to make changes without ever taking your ownership away. If you ever stop working with us, you remove our manager access and keep your profile exactly as it is.

I don't have a storefront and don't want my address public. Can I still rank in the Map Pack?

Yes. Google Business Profile has a service-area business setting built for exactly this: you hide your street address, list the cities and counties you actually serve, and Google still shows your profile in the Map Pack for searches in those areas. Most of the home service businesses we work with run this way.

Is this a one-time fix, or do you manage my profile every month?

Both, in a sense. We do the full setup work first, categories, description, photos, services, but a profile that only gets touched once starts sliding backward. Every Local SEO client gets weekly posts, review responses, and ongoing adjustments for as long as they're with us, because Google rewards active profiles over untouched ones.

What exactly do you change on my profile?

Categories (primary and every relevant secondary one), your business description, your full services list, photos and media, weekly posts, and review responses. What we don't touch is the retired Q&A feature, Google phased that out, so any agency still pitching Q&A management is describing a feature that no longer exists.
